Behaviour: What is it telling us and how do we support children?

DESCRIPTION

During the early childhood years children develop a range of behaviours and methods for expression of their needs and wants. How we as educators react to and provide support and guidance to young children in these early years plays a critical role in the development of positive behaviours.

This workshop will:

– Discuss the reasons for behaviour

– Explore the emotional challenges of the behaviour

– Consider the developmental expectations of the child

– Offer strategies for support to encourage positive outcomes

PRESENTER

Our program facilitator Gail Preston has over 30 years’ experience in special education as a classroom teacher, specialist teacher, principal, academic and educational consultant. Gail has spoken at local, national and international conferences on various topics within the special education and inclusive practice fields.
