Transition for students with additional learning needs: Secondary School to Tertiary Study

DESCRIPTION

Students will be challenged by the changes with this significant transition. There will be a new physical environment, different teaching and learning approaches, and new expectations of your graduating students.

This workshop will:

– Assist you to prepare students making this transition

– Provide advice on how to support students to succeed in tertiary studies

– Identify what students need to be aware of and expect in this learning environment

– Provide strategies for the students to assist and trouble shoot their transition

AITSL requirements met in this workshop:

3.7 Engage parents/carers in the educative process
6.4 Apply professional learning and improve learning(of learners)

This Professional Learning workshop has been specifically designed to assist secondary and tertiary educators in support of a successful transition to post school study.

PRESENTER

Our program facilitator Gail Preston has over 30 years’ experience in special education as a classroom teacher, specialist teacher, principal, academic and educational consultant. Gail has spoken at local, national and international conferences on various topics within the special education and inclusive practice fields.
