DESCRIPTION

Behaviours of challenge often arise from academic deficits. As educators if we work to understand the behaviour, we can shape student behaviour with positive outcomes.

This workshop will:

– Discuss the reasons for behaviour

– Clarify the behaviour

– Understand the emotional challenges of the behaviour

– Offer strategies for support

AITSL requirements met in this workshop:

1.5 Differentiate teaching to meet specific learning needs of learners across the full range of learning abilities
4.1 Support participation of all learners
4.3 Manage challenging behaviour

This Professional Learning workshop has been specifically designed to help educators working with students who present with behavioural challenges in the classroom.

PRESENTER

Our program facilitator Gail Preston has over 30 years’ experience in special education as a classroom teacher, specialist teacher, principal, academic and educational consultant. Gail has spoken at local, national and international conferences on various topics within the special education and inclusive practice fields.
